Votes Collated from fans across the world, gives the 25-year-old Algerian winner of BBC Africa footballer of the year over Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Andre Ayew, Sadio Mane and Yaya Toure. Mahrez says the honour means a lot to him and described it as one big award for African players. “It’s always good to receive awards and for African players, it’s a huge honour. Nigeria's Olympic football team has being delayed due to their plane too small they will arrive few hours before their opening Rio 2016 match , this is not a cheering news. They been held up in Atlanta, USA, because of a problem with their flight payment. According to BBC Sport team media officer "The players were uncomfortable with the size of the plane," He said they would leave on a bigger plane and arrive in time for kick-off against Japan (01:00 GMT Friday). "The [Nigerian] government stepped in," he added. "The players have been assured of adequate medical care on the plane. It's been challenging but most importantly we will be ready for the first game." Their flight is set to depart at 1200GMT for the seven-hour flight to Manaus, where their Group B opener kicks off just 13 hours later. Cristiano Ronaldo, who lifted the trophy in Paris last weekend despite missing the majority of the final through injury, documented the car's arrival on his Instagram account. Alongside a picture of the car, he wrote: "The animal arrive." The car has been delivered to his home in Madrid, while Ronaldo remains on holiday in Ibiza, but the 31-year-old had a message for the luxurious motor as he wrote: "Soon your honor [will] arrive." With a top speed of 255mph, the Bugatti Veyron is the fastest legal road car ever made.

NFF official Ibrahim Abubakar shot dead at his home in Abuja

Nigerian Football Federation official Ibrahim Abubakar was shot dead by at his home in Abuja this morning, according to reports. The country’s football governing body announced on Twitter that armed robbers had killed the head of protocol. It was explained that Abubakar’s remains will be taken to Kaduna, in the northwest of the country, for burial. The NFF’s official Twitter feed read: ‘NFF’s Head of Protocol Ibrahim Abubakar was shot dead by armed robbers in his house in Abuja in the early hours of today. ‘Abubakar’s remains is being taken to Kaduna for burial.’ No more details are yet known about the circumstances surrounding the incident.

FIFA Bans Jack Warner, Former Vice President For Life

Trinidadian Jack Warner, once one of the most powerful men in soccer, has been banned from all football-related activities for life, the ethics committee of world governing body FIFA said on Tuesday. Warner, 72, was one of 14 soccer officials and sports marketing executives who were indicted in the United States on May 27 on bribery, money laundering and wire fraud charges involving more than $150 million in payments. In the latest twist in the corruption scandal, Swiss authorities said last week they were investigating FIFA President Sepp Blatter on suspicion of criminal mismanagement and misappropriation of funds.

NFF Sacked Keshi

Finally the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Wednesday night sacked Stephen Keshi as Nigeria’s Super Eagles coach and relieved his assistants – Daniel Amokachi and Ike Shorounmu – of their duties. The decision was reached following an executive committee meeting held in Abuja. In a communiqué signed by Suleiman Yahaya-Kwande, the NFF commended Keshi and his assistants for their achievements in the past three years. “We praise their glorious accomplishments to the senior national team in the past three years and hailed Stephen Keshi, Daniel Amokachi and Ike Shorounmu as true national heroes. However, in the interest of Nigeria football and the desire to ensure qualification for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations finals, the Committee decided to relieve them of their duties with immediate effect,” the communiqué disclosed.
