A fierce gun battle between Soldiers and a group of armed bandits in Kwasa-kwasa Village, Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, yesterday resulted in the death of at least seven people including senior military officers. The casualties, include two military officers, two vigilante men, and three other civilians in the village. Many soldiers and the civilians, our correspondent gathered, sustained various degrees of injuries during the exchange of fire that lasted for almost three hours. The Military authorities confirmed the killing of two of its officers in the operation. The Army spokesman of 1 Mechanized Division in Kaduna, Colonel Sani Usman Kukasheka, who confirmed the incidence, said “I can confirm to you that there was an encounter between our soldiers and insurgents in Birnin Gwari in which a number of the assailants were killed.
