Will Jonathan Declare a Second Term Or Not?

TOO many questions for Nigeria 2015 presidential election!
Few of which are!
1, will President Jonathan declare a second term?
2.who will be his running mate?
3. will the north give him the anticipated support?
4.will the opposition present a good match?
5.will this election be better and credible than the previous?
6.will Nigerians come out to vote?
Well, as time goes the answers will begin to emerge. just the world wait for his formal declaration, The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Thursday granted President Goodluck Jonathan automatic ticket to contest the 2015 presidential election.

The president who accepted the offer thrown at him by the party expressed his joy at being given the opportunity of a free ticket for the contest, saying the decision of the party has humbled him.

The President said the decision of state governors to throw their weights behind him is like being hit by “atomic bomb”.

The president urged the people to keep believing in him as he promised the nation that his government would deal decisively with insurgency by mid October.

The PDP Board of Trustees had on Wednesday endorsed President Goodluck Jonathan as the party’s sole candidate for the 2015 presidential election.

Rising from a meeting held at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, the Board of Trustees also approved the timetable and guidelines for the party’s primaries and national convention.

A former Minister of Information, Prof. Jerry Gana, disclosed this to State House correspondents at the end of the meeting which ended in the early hours of Thursday said members of the board unanimously endorsed Jonathan after the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Godswill Akpabio, addressed them on the forum’s earlier endorsement of the president.

Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa State who was rumoured as nursing the ambition of seeking the presidential ticket of the PDP for 2015 presidential contest, who was at the NEC meeting seemingly agreed to the decision taken as he thumbed up the president when he (Lamido) was called for a special recognition.

The adoption of Jonathan at the 66th NEC meeting serves as the penultimate move to the emergence of President Jonathan as the party candidate as the National Convention of the party slated for December 5 is expected to affirm the decision taken by the NEC.
