The Police High Command in Abuja, yesterday, said it has identified the policeman who was caught in a hidden camera allegedly demanding for dollar bribe.
The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Frank Mba, who made this known to Vanguard in a statement, said the policeman had been arrested and is currently in custody.
He added that the suspect, who is now in police custody, is undergoing Orderly Room Trial and if found guilty, will face appropriate disciplinary action.
According to him, “the IGP has commended the unknown whistle blower in this case for his painstaking efforts in exposing what would have been a hidden crime. He equally enjoins other members of the public to emulate this noble and patriotic action which will certainly go a long way in checkmating crime in our society.”
Meantime, the policeman was seen in a 45-second video, demanding dollars after apprehending a Nigerian-American and two other Nigerians at a bank in Egbeda Lagos, charging the victims for wearing a navy-like cargo pant.
The video also showed where the policeman insisted the three men must pay him in dollars or be taken to the police station.
At some point, he even offered to show the men where they can change their naira to dollars since the men said they had no dollars on them
