"FCT police command,Gwagwalada division, said they have arrested four suspected armed robbers, all of them in their 20s.
A police source said that the policemen received a distress call from a resident of Dagiri village that his house was being robbed by four armed bandits.
The robbers were alleged to have taken three laptops, N39,000 cash, a Toyota Camry 2003 model car, six handsets and gold earrings.
“Immediately the report was received, our men went out on a man hunt of the four suspected robbers that attacked the said complainant. On a tip off, they nabbed the four suspects within an hour. George Chawandana, 22, from Abia State, Ayuba Kingsley Nathan, 23, from Anambra State, Ibrahim Mohammed, 28, from Edo State and a 27-year- old Chika Valentine from Imo State were all arrested by our men,” the source said.
When contacted, FCT police spokesperson, Deputy Superintendent Hyelhira Altine Daniel, confirmed the incident, saying that upon interrogation, one of the suspects confessed that he was asked by one of his friends to bring a Toyota bus for him to buy.
She said the suspect then informed one of the other suspects, whom he knew to be a car thief and that they went round Gwagwalada trying to see where they could get a bus to steal.
“When they found one; they invited the other two suspects to join them for the operation. According to them, when they got to the compound and discovered that the bus they had in mind was not there, they decided to enter the next house and rob. Immediately they entered the house, they requested for the car keys from the owner of the house.
“After collecting the keys, they ransacked the house, collecting other properties including a Toyota Camry car.
“Two of the suspects drove the car to Zuba, heading to Kaduna where they would sell it but the police were able to apprehend them at Zuba and the stolen car was recovered,” she said.
