FCTA is relocating the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp presently located at Kubwa in Bwari Area Council to Abaji, the FCT Administration has said.
The Chairman, NYSC FCT Governing Board and Secretary, FCT Social Development Secretariat, Blessing Onuh, made the disclosure at the swearing in ceremony of the 2013 Batch B corps members deployed to the FCT.
Represented by the Director, Youth Development, FCTA, Dr. Ogu Geoffrey, Onuh said the decision for the relocation is to ensure a camp that would be more friendly, accommodative and secure.
She also said that a committee has been set up and had gone on facility tour of other NYSC camps in the federation, adding that the paper work for the project has already commenced.
She said the present camp would still undergo further upgrading with hostel facilities which would be turned to a youth centre for the FCT Administration after the relocation.
Earlier, the NYSC FCT Coordinator, Frank Ekpunobsi, disclosed that a total of 2133 batch B corps members have already been registered for the 2013 service year.
He said the corps members would be exposed to intensive skills acquisition seminars to adequately prepare them for post service employment, and urged them to participate fully and actively in all the camp activities.
