2 women Conceals Assault Weapons, IED in thier Veil, Arrested in Maiduguri

Maiduguri - The youth vigilance group,  known as “the Civilian JTF’’, said it apprehended 2 ladies making an attempt to smuggle assault weapons into the monday market in metropolis on Sunday.
Eyewitnesses told newsmen that the ladies, who hid the weapons in their dresses, were nabbed at the Bulabulin entrance gate of the market.
One of the witnesses, Malam Modu Bulama, a trader, said that they were within the market after they heard noise from the gate.
“We rush to scene, however on getting there, we saw 2 ladies in veil with assault weapons,’’ he said.
the ladies hid an Ak 47 rifle, a piece and a few things believed to be Improvise Explosive Devise (IED) in their veil.
A member of the vigilante, Malam Usman ibrahim, supported Bulama’s claim, adding: “we were on a routine checking at the gate when these ladies came wearing veil.
“At initial we failed to bother to look at them, however we realised that one among them was shivering, we said some thing must be wrong,’’ ibrahim said.
He said that after they were searched, “we found that each of them hid an ak 47 rifle, a pistol and IED in their veil.
“We were shocked at the discovery, thus we took them to officers of the Joint Task Force (JTF) on Operation Restore Order (ORO) for investigations,” ibrahim said.
The JTF spokesman, Lt.-Col. Sagir Musa, couldn't be contacted for comment, but a senior military officer, who spoke on condition anonymity, confirmed the story.
The official said the JTF was already investigating the case. (NAN)
