Woman gets 6 months Sentence for Dumping Refuse inside Well

A middle-aged woman has been sentenced to six months imprisonment by an Abuja Magistrate Court for polluting a well water meant for the general public.
Beatrice Aigwabyiokha was convicted for fouling public well/reservoir, an offence punishable under Section 191 of the Penal code.
Police Prosecutor, Igono Ocholi, told the court that one Pastor Mathew Dele of Gbazango extension on April 20, complained at the Gbazango Police Station that the accused, on the same date, voluntarily and maliciously corrupted and fouled the water in the public well. He said she had the intention of rendering it less fit for the purpose it was meant for.
When the charge was read to the accused, she pleaded guilty and asked the court to tamper justice with mercy, saying she was provoked by the complainant.
She was however sentenced to six months imprisonment by Magistrate Samuel Edhiari, with an option of N5,000 fine
