Zuba Police Recover Stolen Vehicle in Kaduna

A Golf 3 car with registration number  AE 315 KKU, allegedly snatched at  gun point last Sunday in Kubwa has been traced to Kaduna and recovered by the police at Zuba division.

The driver of the car, Mohammed Ndana, 40, said the black coloured car was snatched from him at Kubwa between Kubwa Phase 4 and Dei-dei junction around 10pm by four suspected armed robbers.
“I saw four men standing along the road waving furiously; I stopped to pick them because I thought they were passengers. They said they were going to Zuba and we agreed on a price,” the driver said.
He said along the way, one of them sitting at back, said he wanted to stop and he parked for him, adding that he immediately  brought out a pistol and threatened to shoot him  if he refused to  surrender the car’s key and the money on him to them.
“At that point, for fear of being shot, I handed the key to them together with the N15,000  I made for the day. They carried my vehicle and took off,” he narrated.
The driver said he ran to the Zuba police division to report the incident, adding that he had lost hope of recovering the car but surprisingly the police at the division later called him to say they have recovered the car.
When contacted, the divisional police officer at the division, Chief Superintendent Adelegan Femi, said the police swung into action immediately the case was reported by placing its men at the various check points on red alert but said the suspects escaped to Kaduna with the car.
He said on Tuesday, his division got information that a Golf 3 car with the same description given to them was in a car stand at Kaduna and he pretended to be a buyer and got in touch with the sellers.
“The description the sellers gave regarding the car tallied with the one that was stolen in Zuba and I sent my officers, who went to recover the vehicle with the help of the police in Kaduna. The suspects were instantly arrested but one of them is at large,” he disclosed.
He said the case has been transferred to the FCT Criminal Investigation Department for further investigations and advised taxi drivers to be very careful before picking up passengers at night.
One of the arrested suspects, 18 year-old Abdulkadir Abubarkaran, said he  lives in Kubwa with his gang members, adding that the owner of the gun they used for the operation asked three of them to go and sell the car at Kaduna and return the proceeds.
“He collected the pistols and the ammunition in preparation for another robbery in Zuba but unfortunately we were arrested before we could sell the car,” he said.
