The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) yesterday paraded two suspects, Shiru Ahmed and Mrs Lola Afolayan, who allegedly issued fake civil defence appointment letters to some applicants.
The main suspect, Ahmed was arrested based on information provided by Afolayan, 30, a native of Igbaja in Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state. According to the state NSCDC commander, Mr. Yerima Gana, the main suspect issued fake appointment letters to eight applicants through Afolayan.
He said, “Eight victims have been discovered so far, most of who are applicants and paid up to N30, 000 each before they were issued the fake appointment letters”.
Gana, who said the suspect would soon appear in court “for offences bothering on falsification, impersonation, corruption and others as contained in the law of the land”, urged members of the public to be wary of conmen.
Speaking with newsmen, Ahmed confessed to issuing the fake appointment letters, and pleaded for leniency.
Afolayan, on her part, said Ahmed claimed to have brought the letters from Abuja, adding that the search for employment was responsible for her travails-Dailythrust
