Security Checks Intensified at Murtala Muhammed Airport

Security has been tightened in and around the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja, roads leading to and out of the airport were taken over by security agents on Friday morning and vehicles plying the routes were
thoroughly screened by counter terrorism personnel of the Nigeria Police Force. The report said that the screening of had caused serious traffic snarl on the Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way, leading into the domestic wing of the airport. Similar traffic jam was recorded along the Oshodi/Ajao Estate section leading to the international wing of the airport. The security agents, who were apparently searching all vehicles plying the roads, were trying to prevent suspected substances or explosives from the airport. At the domestic section of the Lagos Airport, near the Police Station, the road was narrowed to a single lane with used tyres. All vehicles coming into the airport from Agege and Ikeja ends of the road pass through the single lane to enable the squad check them effectively. The checks resulted in a traffic build up to the lower end of under the bridge around the Ikeja General Hospital. NAN
