The Golden Eaglets of Nigeria are on a high after scoring 20 goals in 5 games so far at the ongoing U-17 World Cup tourney in the UAE. Today, they take on the Swedish U-17 male team–who are foes as familiar as they come. The Manu Garba led wards have promised to beat their Swedish opponents to book a place in the final of the tournament.
“We can’t afford to go back to Nigeria empty handed without the cup. These boys will win today and go on to win the Cup”, promised Eaglets handler, Garba, at the pre-match presser.
“It’s the Cup or nothing for us. The game will be tight but the players are ready to score many goals against Sweden.
“I repeat that it is the Cup or nothing for us. We have come a long way and can’t afford to lose now. We will beat Sweden”, added Garba.
“I am confident the team will score many goals against Sweden”, said midfielder Akinjide Idowu who is ruled out of today’s encounter having accumulated two yellow cards.
“Even though I am not going to play, I am very confident that the other players will do well. Sweden are good but we want this win more and are ready to go the extra mile to achieve our target”, Idowu added.
Nigeria and Sweden dished out a thrilling 3:3 result during an earlier group stage encounter. Today’s rematch will take place at the Rashid Stadium in Dubai at 5pm (Nigerian time).
