Petrol station manager arrested in connection with stolen PMS

"Oyo State Government-established security outfit, Operation Burst, has arrested the manager of Segad Ventures petrol station in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Mr Jacob Ayinde, in connection with  82 pieces of 25-litre kegs of petroleum suspected to have been siphoned from a vandalised pipeline belonging to the Nigeria National Petroleum Company (NNPC).
Briefing journalists at the office of the security outfit at Agodi area in Ibadan, the Commander in charge of Ogbomoso axis which was recently inaugurated, Captain Cliff Wilcox, said that a commercial Nissan bus with registration number AP 30 MAP was trailed BY Operation Burst’s operatives  who were patrolling the town, at about 1.45a.m. after a tip-off.
Wilcox said the bus was driven to a petrol station within Ogbomoso metropolis but on sighting the  operatives, the occupants ran away.
“We discovered that 59 25-litre kegs had been emptied of their contents while 23 kegs were still filled with petroleum products suspected to be premium motor spirit, otherwise known as petrol,” he stated further.
Other items recovered from the suspected vandals were an 18-seater bus, one Honda motorcycle and two Techno handsets which were taken to the stste headquarters of the outfit in Ibadan.
Wilcox said that the manager of the petrol station, Mr Ayinde, was arrested the following day, adding that the suspect would be handed to the police for further investigations in order to verify the source of the petroleum products.
“Apparently the products were stolen, but investigations will verify if indeed they were sourced from vandalised pipelines,” Wilcox said.
During an interview, the arrested manager told journalists that the products were brought to him by a stranger and that he paid N180,000 for 90 kegs, saying that he had hoped to make some gains from the business.
He claimed that he did not know the name of his business partner or his residence, adding that the man just came to his office to tell him that he was into petroleum business"-Tribune
