Gunmen kidnap 90-year-old mother of ex-Ondo commissioner

About six armed hoodlums stormed the residence of 90-year-old mother of the immediate past Commissioner for Education in Ondo State, Remi Olatubora using a speed boat and headed straight to her room from where she was kidnapped at her Iyansan country home in the riverside community of Irele Local Government Area of the State.
It was further learnt that the faint wailings of the aged woman, whose name cannot be ascertained as at press time, woke up the younger wife of her husband who was asleep in another room; but the latter retreated when she saw the armed men.
They were said to have hurriedly took the woman away and escaped using the speed boat to the creeks. The incident happended at about 1:00 a.m. on Sunday.
Her son, Remi, who is also a lawyer and a member of the legal team that defended Governor Olusegun Mimiko’s suit at the just concluded Ondo Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, could not be reached as
at the time of filing the report
The Spokesperson of the Ondo State Police Command, Wole Ogodo, confirmed the incident.

Mr. Ogodo assured members of the public that detectives from the Criminal Investigations Department had started investigation on the case while expressing confidence that the hoodlums would be

apprehended in due course.
