Warning: CBS Wrirtes Grammy Awards Attendees to Cover Up on the Red Carpet

Please keep your nudity to your spouse at home, bad news for stars like Fergie, Jennifer Lopez and Toni Braxton, because they are going to have a tough time finding something to wear to the 55th Annual Grammy Awards in L.A.

In an e-mail obtained by Deadline, CBS forbade the show's attendees from wearing overtly sexual outfits during the live telecast on Sunday, Feb. 10. "Please be sure that buttocks and female breasts are adequately covered," the e-mail reads. "Thong type costumes are problematic. Please avoid exposing bare flesh under curves of the buttocks and buttock crack. Bare sides or under curvature of the breasts is also problematic."

The e-mail continues, "Please avoid sheer see-through clothing that could possibly expose female breast nipples. Please be sure the genital region is adequately covered so that there is no visible 'puffy' bare skin exposure."

In addition to barring risque ensembles, the network also asked guests to avoid wearing outfits featuring commercial or political statements. "Please avoid commercial identification of actual brand name products on T-shirts. Foreign language on wardrobe will need to be cleared," the e-mail reads. "The network requests that any organized cause visibly spelled out on talent's wardrobe be avoided. This would include lapel pins or any other form of accessory."
Writing in all capital letters, the network added, "Obscenity or partially seen obscenity on wardrobe is unacceptable for broadcast."

It's not too surprising that the network is wary of any sartorial controversies: CBS was fined $550,000 after Janet Jackson exposed her breast during the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show. The penalty was later overturned.
The 55th Annual Grammy Awards are live Sunday, Feb. 10, at 8 p.m. EST on CBS. Scheduled presenters include BeyonceFaith HillCarly Rae JepsenKaty Perry and Ellen DeGeneresTaylor SwiftKelly ClarksonRihanna and Carrie Underwood are slated to perform.
